*a graduate level background in child development,
*an Association Montessori Internationale certificate in teaching for children under 7,
*a background as infancy coordinator at UC Berkeley where I successfully met 200 babies to acclimate them to the lab and collect data,
*several years' experience as a nanny and mother.
Parents who are discerning can have the best of a home environment as well as a transition into the Montessori philosophy, with more in depth care than a typical classroom environment.
1) personalized attention without interrupting the child's budding concentration and coordination
2) at least one lesson each day
3) detailed records of your child's activities and preferences
4) thorough understanding of your child through observation, notes and reflection
5) unconditionally loving, patient care all day long
6) the benefit of tailored lessons, bringing interests to your child, expertise of training that can take the child's likes and do math/language/art/songs form that interest, no matter what it may be!
7) sensitivity to language and culture; bringing your child's culture into the classroom with love and respect
8) good communication with parents, quarterly conferences
9) encouragement to independence with special attention to your child's pace and developmental readiness
10) a full work period - that will benefit your child's depth of concentration, perseverance, quality of work, and ultimately fulfillment
11) observational assistance as needed to identify speech issues, early adhd or autism symptoms, or other special needs
12) reading time
13) free choice for the child within limits
14) redirection rather than discipline
